Despite still lacking some of the deeper customization heft that other free antivirus solutions have, most glaringly a scheduler, the program is not necessarily a bad choice for a stripped-down antivirus. It has added a full on-demand scan, and it runs at around 15MB of RAM when idle and around 60MB when scanning. It's a great choice for resource-conscious Netbook users. Panda Cloud Antivirus makes a decent, reasonable security choice for anybody looking to effectively balance security and system performance.

Pros: Small download. Quick install. Simple, attractive interface. Cloud-based malware detection needs no signature updates. This version adds behavioral malware detection. Very effective at keeping malware out of clean systems. Free!
Cons: In malware-cleanup testing, didn't detect as many threats as the competition and didn't thoroughly remove what it did detect. Limited functionality when no Internet connection available.
Bottom Line: This free antivirus is great at keeping malicious software from installing on clean computers. It's less effective at cleaning up existing infestations, so, if it detects a threat, run another product for a second scrubbing.

All in all we were impressed by Panda Cloud Antivirus, especially when you consider that it's free. This is a lightweight, straightforward yet capable alternative to more conventional security solutions, and particularly in the case of those looking to protect a notebook or two on a network, would offer peace of mind without the often unnecessary bulk of a more mainstream suite of tools.

ReplyDeleteI'd guess that the location in the cloud has to be well known to the Panda software on the PC, so the baddies just have to find this location and block it. Result - no AV protection.
Panda Cloud Antivirus did a pretty good job. I’d say it could be compared to Avast Free Antivirus if were exposed to the same links. Very good for a free product. Thanks a lot for your review! It was great as always!

In the realatively short time I have been using this AV it has caught viruses no problem.Its VERY light on resources(In fact I forget its there) Scan speed is much faster on my PC than Avast was...

ReplyDeleteI downloaded the Panda Cloud Antivirus to help protect my computer, but as soon as I got it my computer started slowing down and freezing up. I scanned it with my other Antivirus software and guess who the culprit was? Panda Cloud..Thanks for the help Panda.
ReplyDeletePut it on my wife's Acer Netbook a couple of months ago. Seems unobtrusive, and works nicely in the background. Like the small footprint, especially for computers with limited power. No complaints so far, like it a lot.
ReplyDeletePros: Very unintrusive; it just does its job. Cons: Does not have automatic scans; highly dependent on internet connection.
ReplyDeletePanda lets you send the 1st connect to your smtp server but after that it fails with the "sending of msg failed verify mail & newsgroups account settings are correct and try again. I didn't see any customizeable options so I de-installed it and went back to my Comodo Internet suite.
